Despite the pandemic, much happened with regards to evangelization efforts in Nigeria. Most activities were transferred to online outlets which allowed for the creation of great awareness building and mobilization across churches and denominations. Top leaders, including His Eminence Rev. Dr. Samson Olasupo Ayokunle, the president of CAN (Christians Association of Nigeria), agreed to jointly pursue the Great Commission. This constitutes a significant and unprecedented change and push towards unity in the Body of Christ in Nigeria.
From May 1 - 30, several Zoom conferences and webinars were held, designed for prayer as well as to mobilize and equip all believers to comprehensively evangelize the country. They featured experienced and anointed ministers of the Gospel teaching and training on evangelism. Another webinar series, "Not Ashamed", which appealed greatly to youths and young adults was held to drive awareness for evangelism in general and motivate believers to boldly and courageously proclaim their faith in Jesus Christ. It featured young Christian Ministers and Media Influencers like: Leke Adeboye, son of the General Overseer of the RCCG; Damilola Mike-Bamiloye, son of popular Gospel music producer; Yemisi Vese, a top Christian faith blogger; and Toyosi Etim-Effiong, a prominent radio personality, author and entrepreneur. The panelists shared their experiences in their walk with God and how they overcome the challenges of sharing their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (watch it here https://youtu.be/DXMZhU0we3I).
Several national newspapers covered activities and events surrounding Global Outreach Day, May 30th. With a National Hope Proclamation focused on repentance and revival, many leaders such as Evangelist Oguazi Onyemobi, are expecting a new breath of revival as a result of all sowing that took place during the lockdown. It is their professed goal to sustain the newly found unity and build on it. Watch the program here https://youtu.be/7TWfoGD-DEU.
On the same Saturday, 30th May 2020, Pastor E. A. Adeboye, the General Overseer of RCCG had a special broadcast to call for the Father’s blessings on global evangelism. He prayed for signs and wonders to follow believers as they go out for soul winning in response to the Great Commission. Watch the broadcast at: https://youtu.be/ttiuELQjG4c.
