Dear friends, today I had tears of thankfulness, when I saw how the work on Czech subtitles for EE online course continues in US. In the last three weeks I - together with Marek Obitko and the US office - worked hard on the translation from English. I am very much looking forward that hopefully in two weeks it will run openly in Czech – as the first national language subtitles worldwide. https://eei.pathwright.com/library/go2020/92719/about/ One sister, who we met during the Freedom in Christ online workshop, wrote me just today: “Do you have any simple description of the method, which you use in EE? I would like to read it… Longer time I am in contact with several unbelievers. They know that I am a Christian, they got Bible from me, probable they read my websites but I have not been successful to tell them clearly the Gospel yet. I look for an inspiration how to do it. We love one another very much and I do not want to push them. I only need to tell them Gospel in a natural and clear way. Thank you in advance for your advice…” I am glad to be able to offer her the EE online course soon!
Also the other weeks of the quarantine were for me full of interesting meetings and conversations. God´s word is unstoppable. It does not matter, if online (as I heard from some others) or in a personal contact, how it was given to me even in this time. I want to share with you at least some of them: Just on Good Friday I went to the peacocks to John, about whom I wrote last time. Suddenly I see a man sitting on a deserted, unpleasant place full of mass. “Why are you sitting so alone just here?!” “I sat down to eat.” He´s just finished eating. “Wow, you do have a big bag!” I say curiously. “Oh, that´s for my tool” and points to a metal finder instrument. “I seek coins.” “Have you found anything? “Not today.” “And what was it the last time?! “Some coins from the Habsburg monarchy era. It has a value of 4 dollars.” “Oh, you could advice me! Recently I looked for the value of the coins in the 16th century. I needed to set the value of an old book, Kralice Bible.” “OK. I can look for that.” “It reminds me what a read about a treasure, which was found in Bulgaria,” I continued and he started to tell me about various findings, where the founder was surprised, what a special thing he had found. “Could I read you two parables in connection with it?” And I read about the lost coin (L 15) and about the treasure in the field (Mt 13) and explained the meaning.
“God is seeking man as a treasure and he was willing to give his own Son for him – as we are reminded just today on the Good Friday.” At the end I asked him: “Can I offer you part of that I worked as Bible translator on – Gospel of John?” “Sure. Man goes out just so and meets with an interesting person…” May Marek could find the greatest treasure, which a man can find.
Ten days later I went out for the first time with Tom, whom I lead as a disciple. There is a nice park in his housing estate. We walk on the way and suddenly we see there is a lady binding a yellow rope around some stone pillars. I ask her: “What is it for?” “Oh, I´m preparing some fun for my girls – I don´t know what to do with them in this time.” “Oh, then I can offer you something for them. I recorded on youtube some children stories for my grandchildren in US and Germany. And then I gave it to disposal for others.” And I pass her my visit card so that she could find my channel [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gb6DcLEhzjQ]. The girls went home to change the clothes, because 4 years old Eva fell into a stream, and it took them long time to come back. So we went on in conversation. “Do you know why we call Pesach “Great night” in Czech?” I ask her. [Seldom one knows!] “No, I don´t.” So I started by Joseph, went on to 10 Egypt plagues with the “Great night”, up to the Lamb of God, Jesus. Then two diagnostic questions followed and Captain illustration. In the meantime the girls came back. Nine years old Inna is obviously a very curious girl. They played, ran around, but I did not like that they cast with their doll. So I caught it and put it high on one of the pillars. Inna tried to walk on them to reach it. I helped her, but the distance to the last one, where the doll was, was too big. “What am I going to do?” she calls desperately. “Jump,” I said and stretched my arms. She jumped! And then I reached her the doll. Then I offered I will go to me car for some children´s materials. On the way I prayed that it would be clear, if I have to continue telling something to them after more than one hour talk. When came back with Tom, I was surprised: Inna was sitting close to her mom and reading the New Testament, which I had given her mother before. The 3rd chapter of Matthew!! I started to explain to her the Scriptures from the children´s calendar: “Let the children come to me.” And for the explanation, why God´s kingdom belongs to children, I used our very fresh experience, when she - with trust - jumped to my arms! Mom Catherine added that when Inna was 3 years old, they painted her room and allowed her to paint what she wants on the wall – and she painted crucified Jesus! On the other side, Inna surprised mom sharing that she prayed on internet with a girl from Slovenia, whom she had met on their holiday in Croatia and they stayed in contact. Before we said goodbye, I offered prayer to them and they accepted. Then, when I prayed for the protection of the running little Eva from an accident, they both started to laugh – “everyday there is something happening to her” – and they showed me a scar on her forehead. May this beautiful family can follow Jesus together!
And the last, very fresh story: It started with a dog (as spring board): Last Wednesday I and my wife were coming back from a walk, when - close to our house - we greeted a lady, who we knew by sight for 23 years; she works in the post office. About three hours later I was coming back from my English student and on the very same spot I met her again. I asked: “How often do you go out with the dog?” “Oh, now when I have holiday five six times a day. Next week I go to work again, but then, on 23 June, I go for a surgery and then I will be some half year at home.” “Can I ask, what´s the problem?” “Well, about a year ago I cleaned the windows and with the last move something broke in my left arm. It pains a lot. The doctor warned me that if I would not go for the surgery my arm could stay hang and in 57 years to the end of life it would be bad…” “Are you not afraid?” “Of course I am.” In the meantime I started to go up on the hill to her and the dog and said: “You know, I must offer you…” She interrupted me: “You have already offered to me several years ago…” “Really? I do not remember it. But now I mean, if I can pray for you.” “Sure. I pray every evening. My grandfather taught me it.” I prayed for her and spoke health in Jesus name to her arm. Then I had to run for another part of the online course Freedom in Christ. The next afternoon – between the zoom conversation with brother Sam from Romanian EE and the zoom meeting of European EE leaders - I went out for a half hour and again, for the third time I met lady Zuzana on the same place! “So what about your hand?” “Good, it does not pain! Still the sleeping…” “I will be glad to pray for you but first I would like to tell you something.” Then there was an opportunity to share the Gospel in 20 minutes. [BTW, for the first time I used my mobile as the “Record book”, as I saw it during the translation work of the online course in the morning.] Then we were both in hurry. But this time we agreed in advance that we will meet again at 7:30 p.m. In the meantime, we had the home group, where we also prayed for her… In the evening she came without the dog, because she was afraid it would get could on the ground. And it was good so. It was a little longer… During 90 minutes she told me a little about her life: about the hard three years, when she tried to cope with the fact that her husband had left her because of a younger woman and she took tattoo on her arm, three English words: Freedom, Breath, Meekness; about how her beloved uncle died for cancer 6 years ago; etc. It was pleasure to pray for such an open person. On Friday I got a text message from her: “Thank you a lot. I slept full 10 hours!” Halellujah!
For the weekend we went to see our son Michael in Písek, where we meet our fifth grandchild Noemi for the first time. So we arranged another meeting with Zuzana for Tuesday evening. I invited still one sister, Olga, who lives on this housing estate as well. To make it short: We were not staying outside, but Zuzana received the invitation to come our house and after 2 hours conversation and explaining of the dedication, she repented and received the gift of eternal life. This night she came for the home group for the first time. Praise the Lord! After a lot of sowing, a joyful harvesting came. But it would be so easy to miss it… I am looking forward that we will finally finish the started course in Olomouci in the last May weekend. But just yesterday I learnt that one of the participants, Libor, “is out of play,” as he said. On Saturday the rescue took him to hospital and immediately on Sunday he had the surgery of colon. In spite he has the metastasis, he “experience God´s peace.” And in June, we are eagerly expected in Třinec, where David from Prague goes with me as trainer. Quarterly Day of Prayer and Fasting with prayer topics for each country is a good demonstration that we count with prayer in EE. It was a great joy for me to join (for the first time) part of it online on the 5th of May. In the last days the words from 2Ti 2:21 accompany me: “If anyone cleanses himself from these things, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work.” May we are such a good and prepared vessel of the Lord!
Thank the Lord - for the new life physical (Noemi) as well as spiritual (Zuzana) - that he really makes good out of evil - that those who sow with tears will harvest with joy
Ask - for the growth of Zuzana in faith and joining to Church - continuation of the started contacts with unbelievers - Libor in his physical weakness - EE courses in Olomouc and Třinec (Divine encounters) - finishing and plentiful use of EE online course
